FALL LAYERING WITH MOD CLOTH

This year New York may have missed the memo and skipped from summer to winter.
Nevertheless any lucky warm days we may have from now till the first snow hits is definitely a blessing in disguise.

Without a doubt my favorite thing about the cooler months are the holiday spirit and warm and cozy clothing.  Mod Cloth asked me to style a few layering looks for the fall and winter and here is what I put together. These looks were inspired by items found on the website.

As you can see I chose to layer all the looks with a scarf and played with variations, textures and styles. It is SUPER freezing in New York around this time and if there is one thing I can do for my self it is keeping a cozy scarf.

In the first look, I layered my summer dress with the tan cardigan to make it a bit more fall appropriate. I would wear this cream knee high socks and leather boots. I love how feminine and playful the colors are. With that look I'm channeling the spring / summer pastels and complimenting them with fall colors.

The second look is one I actually wore very recently. Layering the cardigan over stripes with the scarf as an accent color. Neturals / Tans and hunter green are two of my favorite fall must have colors because they are the perfect neutrals to style into any outfit. My still typically revolves around basics So that is primarily what I based most of my looks around. It also makes it a lot easier to style a statement piece into an outfit.

Lastly I appropriate channeled the holiday season in this outfit in which I layered a knit sweater over my stripe skater dress and complimented that stripes with a polka dot scarf.

**The key to layering is to keep the pieces comfortable while maintaining a great fit. Don't pair a baggy bottom with a baggy top (except in special occasions where it works out).  Play around your shape and leave room for error.

Never be afraid of exploring different patterns, fits and colors. The worse thing that could happen is that you find a new style. :)
